Last night I stumbled across a YouTube channel called “Josie Kins”, and this amazing individual’s mission is to turn the psychedelic experience from something that is ineffable into something that can be commonly understood by building common psychedelic terminology sets.
Josie personally holds the stance of a materialist and doesn’t believe that the mystical necessitates the spiritual.
Josie has done such an amazing job of conceptualizing the psychedelic experience through other worldly visuals, or explaining experiences through her video Psychedelic Mystical and Transpersonal Experience Tier List.
This is my first time witnessing someone who so clearly understands the psychedelic experience who also chooses materialism.
I personally choose to believe that the psychedelic experience is often a very spiritual experience, but what do ya’ll think? Do psychedelics necessitate spirituality?
In my experience, psyche's always lead to a spiritual breakthrough of some kind. But then again, its like Terence Mckenna's famous quote "Psychedelics don't work on stupid people." 😂
Hey bud - a lot of the early part of your post went over my head (my failure not yours) but to the posed question of psychedelics necessitating spirituality - for me it's more a case of psychedelics opening a doorway to spirituality that I would imagine is very hard to not walk through during such an experience. I mean ... where else is there to go on a trip, then through the spiritual doorway? One could, I suppose, try sitting looking at the door for 8 hours and not peeking through, but I would imagine they suffer greatly in the process - ha ha. I guess ultimately I find it very difficult to imagine having a psychedelic experience that is entirely material / not spiritual. But would be very interested to hear if anyone has had such an experience. Much loves
