The perspectives in this are very interesting! I’m grateful to hear Putin’s side of the story and the war. I feel like all I see on the news or on TikTok or from word of mouth is the narrative that is pro-Ukraine. That Russia is malicious, evil, and a terrorist country.
It is really hard to know the truth of the matter, and both the U.S.’s view of the conflict and Putin/Russia’s view of the conflict are of course both politically motivated in their presentation.
There are parts that seem to fact check, and there are parts that seems like a personal narrative. Ultimately, the one thing I was hoping for but I did not full get it: what was the straw that broke the camel’s back in Putin’s eyes? It felt like the question was dodged as to why the conflict occurred now V.S. awhile ago. If Ukraine was rightfully Russia’s, why wasn’t action taken sooner? I’m not sure I’m buying the whole “we’re trying to eliminate nazi-ism” logic to the war. It does seem like NATO’s alliance with Ukraine was most like the factor.
Great listen, I’d love to hear more
Ooh this is a long one, gonna put this on while I’m working from home tomorrow 😎
